Ubuntu desktops from IBM
To compete with the latest and widely discussed Windows 7 operating system from Microsoft, IBM is launching Ubuntu desktops. Ubuntu desktops are designed to operate in low-end PCS and especially in Linux based environments. The major advantage of latest IBM release is its adaptability to be incorporated with almost all business processes. It offers the flexibility to be used in existing machines or in thin clients or in any IT establishment which is SOA based.
One of the major disadvantages with Windows environment, pointed out by IBM is the trouble associated with any sort of transformation of processes. If the entire environment need to be incorporated with any specific business processes, it is absolutely difficult, whereas in an IBM powered Linux based machines, any business processes can be incorporated or the existing system can be migrated without much trouble. As a matter of facts, Ubuntu can be considered as a potential challenge to Windows 7.
Acer with 3 D Screen
After the introduction of Windows 7 platform, different computer manufacturers are coming up with different stuffs, but Acer has tried and tested something very different. Acer is releasing laptops with three dimensional effects and these laptops will be best suited for gaming and watching movies. Even though Sharp had released a three dimensional view laptop in the year 2003, the performance was not that encouraging since, the viewer had to place his head in a particular position for a better view of the three dimensional screen. It is important when shopping for PC laptops and PC notebooks to make these checks and compare performance.
Acer comes with a 15.6 inches screen to best suit the three dimensional effect of movies and games. All adjustments of effects can be handled by a button, which is one of the great advantages of this make. Three dimensional effects can be turned on and off with the help of a button. As with all laptop bigwigs, here’s Acer trying to cash in on this potent market and boost its image.

Cell charger of Toshiba using Methanol fuel
It has been said for some time that Toshiba was going to launch the first ever methanol fuel cell charger, but now, that has been materialized. Otherwise known as DMFC, direct methanol fuel cell technology is first used by Toshiba and is breaking many barriers.
Methanol fuel cell charging technology can be used in electronic gadgets including cell phones and digital cameras. The working principle of this charger is as follows. Water, methanol and air will combine to produce electricity which can be used as a driving force for cell phones, digital cameras or other electronic gadgets. Only a little of carbon dioxide and water vapor are the two bi-products of this reaction and this is the reason why direct methanol fuel cell technology is the safest greener source of energy production. The fuel can be refilled within seconds, if needed and this can be counted as a great advantage of DMFC technology.
